West Valley Presents: Bye Bye Birdie

Posted Date: 12/01/25 (09:00 AM)

The talented drama team is poised to take the stage with this year’s musical Bye Bye Birdie. Students and teachers alike are full of excitement as they build another memorable production for the community.

“We are currently casting our show,” shared Drama producer and Fine Arts teacher Ben Webster. Mr. Webster explained, “Each year, the Drama team works together to choose a show that fits the talents of the students and our local space. So, the Musical Director, the Vocal Director, the Producer and a few helpful adult volunteers share their list of possibilities. From there, the team works to narrow the selection down to one production that meets a list of requirements from cost to costuming.”

The excitement around this year’s show is already building. Mr. Webster shared, “This is a really fun show to do with very catchy music that the students are going to love.”  With upbeat songs and a playful storyline, Bye Bye Birdie is a great match for performers of all experience levels. Students have been eager to jump in, and the creative team can already see how the show will come to life on stage.

Bringing the musical together will require a large and talented group of students from West Valley High School and the Mid-Level Campus. “We will have about 50 cast members, 20 crew members, and 15 musicians performing in the Pit Orchestra,” says Webster. This year, the crew is expanding as well. “We have changed up some of the structure for our crew to give more students an opportunity for leadership roles and responsibility.”

As casting wraps up and rehearsals begin, mark your calendar for both evening and matinee performances of Bye Bye Birdie in February and keep an eye on wvsd208.org for all the latest happenings.
